Aman's Janu Comes to Montenegro
Montenegro is preparing for a major new chapter in luxury hospitality.
After five years of uncertainty, construction at Janu Kraljičina Plaža in Miločer is set to resume on 1 October 2026.
At the same time, the historic Hotel Durmitor project in Žabljak is entering a new phase, with Janu by Aman Group announced as its prospective operator.
The developments bring together two of Montenegro's most distinctive landscapes: the Adriatic coast and the mountains of the north. For a destination increasingly recognised for its natural beauty, cultural heritageand exclusive travel experiences, the arrival of Janu presents an opportunity to expand its luxury offering beyond the traditional summer season.
For Montenegro Concierge DMC, the story is about more than new hotel openings.
It is about creating a more complete luxury travel experience, connecting the beaches of the Budva Riviera with the forests, lakes and peaks of Durmitor.

The first major development is taking shape in Miločer, one of the most sought-after locations on Montenegro's Adriatic coast.
Adriatic Properties, the lessee of the Aman Sveti Stefan — Miločer resort, has confirmed that construction of the Janu Kraljičina Plaža hotel (Queen's Beach Hotel) will resume on 1 October 2026, following a five-year pause.
The project is being continued under the settlement agreement reached between the Government of Montenegro and Adriatic Properties.
According to the company, construction will remain within the previously approved building parameters, with no additional accommodation capacity planned. The investor has also announced the planting of more than 250 new trees and approximately 5,900 units of low vegetation and shrubs.
The hotel is planned for the site of the former Kraljičina Plaža hotel, near the historic Sveti Stefan resort. Its position between the Adriatic Sea and Miločer Park makes it one of the most distinctive settings for a luxury hotel in Montenegro.

Janu is Aman's sister brand, created to offer a more dynamic and socially connected approach to luxury hospitality.
Its philosophy places emphasis on shared experiences, wellness, gastronomy and a sense of community.
Where Aman is traditionally associated with tranquillity, exclusivity and privacy, Janu introduces a more energetic expression of luxury.
Open-concept dining, social spaces and holistic wellness are central to the brand's identity.
Guests will be able to combine the privacy of a luxury retreat with the pleasures of the Adriatic coast, from beach experiences and scenic walks to exceptional dining and bespoke excursions.
For Montenegro Concierge DMC, Janu Kraljičina Plaža represents an opportunity to create tailor-made experiences around a new luxury address, including private transfers, coastal excursions, boat journeys and curated gastronomic programmes.

The second major development is planned for Žabljak, in the heart of Montenegro's northern mountain region.
The architectural concept by Elastic Architects presents a contemporary mountain retreat inspired by the dramatic forms of a glacier cave.
Located at approximately 1,430 metres above sea level, the proposed resort is designed to embrace its natural surroundings while offering a distinctive luxury experience.
The project includes luxury mountain villas surrounded by pine forest, wellness facilities, open-air dining and a central reflecting pool designed to transform into an ice-skating rink during winter.
The design also draws inspiration from the historic Hotel Durmitor, creating a connection between Žabljak's architectural heritage and its future as a luxury mountain destination.

Žabljak and Durmitor already attract visitors for hiking, rafting, skiing and nature-based experiences.
A luxury resort would add a new dimension to that offer, combining outdoor adventure with wellness, fine dining and the comfort of a high-end retreat.
A few days in Janu Kraljičina Plaža, followed by a private journey north to Žabljak, could become the foundation of a bespoke Montenegro itinerary — one that brings together the Adriatic, the mountains and Montenegro's rich cultural heritage.
The arrival of Janu in Montenegro reflects a wider evolution in the luxury travel market.
Today's traveller is increasingly interested in experiences that combine privacy with connection, personal wellbeing with discovery, and comfort with authenticity.
Montenegro is particularly well suited to this vision. Its compact geography allows travellers to experience dramatically different landscapes within a single journey, from Mediterranean beaches to alpine peaks — a strong foundation for longer stays, multi-destination itineraries and personalised experiences throughout the year.

The future of luxury travel in Montenegro will be defined not only by the quality of its hotels, but by the experiences that surround them.
A private coastal escape in Miločer can be paired with a mountain retreat in Žabljak. A day on the Adriatic can be followed by an outdoor adventure in Durmitor. Wellness, gastronomy, culture and nature can become part of one carefully designed journey.
Montenegro Concierge DMC can help bring that vision to life through private transportation, exclusive excursions, local expertise and tailor-made itineraries designed around each guest's preferences.
The restart of construction at Janu Kraljičina Plaža marks a significant moment for Montenegro's luxury hospitality sector. The planned Janu Durmitor project adds another dimension to the country's ambitions, extending the luxury travel story from the Adriatic coast to the mountains of the north.
The two projects remain at different stages of development, and the final opening dates and investment details for Durmitor have yet to beconfirmed.
Nevertheless, the direction is clear: Montenegro is continuing to build a more diverse and sophisticated luxury travel offering.
